The airport features two main terminals: the international terminal (opened 2013) handling flights from 30+ countries, and the domestic terminal handling 60+ Indonesian routes. The airport operates 24 hours a day.

Despite modern facilities, Ngurah Rai presents challenges: immigration queues of 30-120 minutes during peak periods, confusing visa on arrival process for first-timers, large terminal distances requiring significant walking, crowded customs and arrival halls, and chaotic vehicle pickup areas.
